MCS Academy
Music City Strings Academy provides a high-quality Suzuki music education program in Middle Tennessee. We offer instruction in violin, viola, and cello for Preschool through High School students. The program curriculum includes private lessons, group classes, recitals, music theory education, participation in performance competitions, and additional performing.
In 2005, Dana Meyer established a violin studio in Franklin, Tennessee offering individual private lessons and group classes. Her dream was to create a program that would provide children the means to become confident, sensitive and beautiful artists. Music City Strings was the result of this dream. In 2012 Mrs. Meyer's studio was one of only three groups in all of North and South America selected to perform on the International Ensembles Concert at the Suzuki Association of the Americas Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The performance was so well received that it attracted the attention of touring concert promoters and the Nashville Music Industry. After a European concert tour and repeated requests for the group to perform, it became necessary to separate the performance demands from the educational focus of the original violin teaching studio. This led to the creation of two affiliated entities: Music City Strings Academy, a private strings education program, and Music City Strings, a non-profit organization that offers exceptional extra-curricular performing opportunities for string students that has become one of the top educational string-performance ensembles in the country!
